LMC 1955
hI, my name is Dave Jones. I an 76 years old and have a small collection of old bikes. I am currently restoring a Magnat Debon 1955 LMC 175cc.
I haope to have some
/ guide lines with the following;--
1. How do i remove the handlebars? The handlebar has double bends and passes throgh the headlamp nascel. I suppose that the handle bar is in 2 parts and fixed tohether bt theads of some sort. Is this correct and if so, are the threads left or right hand?
2. how to remove the winging arm, is there a special dismantling tool?
3. How to remove the front forks as these are also fixed inside the headlamp nascel
Hoping somebody on the forum can give me good adviceon the above
Many thanks in advance
Dave

Re: LMC 1955
Good evening
The handlebar is indeed in two parts, from memory.
You have to remove the headlight shield
And then undo the clamp holding the handlebar.
To remove the headlight head, there are two screws on the top of the head.
I have a doubt; I also think there are two bolts at the bottom of the headlight head, and after removing the handlebar, the head comes out from the top...
I could take pictures if needed.
Is it a Magnat Debon LMC or a Terrot S2T?
If you remove the engine, be careful, there are shims on one side of the engine only.
Happy restoration, and if necessary, don't hesitate to ask questions.
LMCs are not common on the Forum.
Good evening.

Re: LMC 1955
Hello terotiste
Headlamp shroud is 1 piece which means that i have to split the 2 halves. When the are out of the way then the headlamp shroud can be removed as i have already relaxed the handlebar clamp bolts
Have you had any experience with removing the swinging arm ??,
are there special tools for this job or simple threaded bar and heavy chunck of metal
I am also in need of replacement parts and a workshop manual. It seems that there is a shortage of pieces the this model
Hope you can
Dave

Re: LMC 1955
Hi, i am sorry for the badly laid out message yesterday. Just changed my computer and it switches key boards AZERTY to QUERTY the text becomes a mess.
Anyway the points from last post
1. so The handlebars pass through the headlamp cowl so they must be 2 pieces somehow connected inside the headlamp. I have released the 2 clamping units inside the headlamp cowl , and i can rotate the handlebars but i cannot separate them. Any ideas ?
2. how do you remove the swinging arm, does this require special tool ?
3 i need a workshop manual for the 1955 LMC
names for suppliers of spare
4 i also need any places i can get spare parts for this bike
Merci.
