TerroT JSS 350cc

I have a TerroT JSS from 1939 that I am renovating, I will start the project in the fall of 2018. Until then I am collecting parts for it.

It has belonged to my grandfather in Norway and I brought it to Sweden two years ago, about the same time as i bought an old TerroT-spare part stock.

The JSS has not been running since 1961 and it have been stored under a roof with no walls, living thru the Norwegian winter like that for about.. 56 years!! I would say that it has lasted the teeth of time rather well . But I have not opened the engine up yet so I guess we will have to wait and see.

Here are some pictures of the bike and of the old papers that I got from the traffic departement in Norway when i searched the old license plate. It is a little hard to find out when it came into registration in Norway because the first year written clearly is 1946 when it was registered for "luxury taxes". And on another place in the document it is hard to se if it says that the value for first registration was in 39 or 49 because somebody has messed around with his or her pen..

By the way, it also says that the value for it when first register (either in 39 or 49) was 1850 Nok, today that is about 59 600 Nok and about 6000 €. Anyway, according to the papers the earliest registeration I can tell is at the Police Chief in Oslo Norway in the year 1946 until 1947, after that it was sold to a civilian and went into the civilian market. In 1956 my grandfather bought it.

Other fun facts in the document is the tire dimension which was 26 x 3,25, the gastank 15 liters and also the frame number and engine number, which is still corresponding.

Yes I hope so! I am missing only a few parts, like the cover for the gear box, the foot rests, the original lamp and speedometer and probably a couple things more that will probably show it self when i start taking it apart.

Thank you! I heard from Jean-Luc that there was a new forum. I am trying to keep the stock running but the studies come first at the moment, fortunately i graduate this summer! Woho!

The parts I know I am missing at the moment are the following, but I will probably see that I need more parts when I tear down the engine:

-Speedometer

-Amperemeter

-Foot Rests for driver

-The outside cover/shield for the gearbox (not the gearbox housing)

-Licence plate, front and rear

-Exhaust Silencer

-The shifters for the ignition and lights (Manettes)

Yeah, it feels great! Even better would be if I get it running before he misses the opportunity to ride it again, but that is a promise i do not want to make, he turns 90 next year! But it would be awesome if he could hear it running again so I could hear all the stories again of fixing the spark plugs with reindeer horns on the top of a mountain in the middle of a blizzard while at the same time catching a fox with his bare hands.. :lol: ;)

-Licence plate, front and rear : les plaques d'immatriculation avant et arrière (refabriquées aussi)

-Exhaust Silencer : un silencieux ( pas de souci ...)

-The shifters for the ignition and lights (Manettes) : là plutôt le commodo (pas de souci non plus)

Et je rajoute que le carter primaire est pratiquement prêt a partir .......

Donc, l'un dans l'autre, vu tout ce qu'on a déjà trouvé, ca devrait le faire rapidos ;)

But the motorcycle can be restored with a standard one waiting to find the rare one ....... ;)

Bonjour, il y a un repousseur qui fait des phares,mais c'est très approximatif.
Il y a eu des JSS vendu sans compteur, bol comme une HC4 avec simplement un ampèremètre.

I am searching for the switches, the only switch I have is the horn button. Regarding handels, my clutch and break handle is not very good at all.. And the handlebar is not very nice either, but it may be restored..

Yes the front light seems to be hard.. but like you say, I can wait for the right one :D .

Here are som pictures of the boat project. It is a swedish boat from about 1920s or 1930s in Mahogny, probably designed by C.G. Pettersson in Stockholm. I bought it for 600€ without an engine.

What I have done so far is to take of all the old varnish of the hull, sand it and put "bets" (natural mahogany pigments mixed with alcohol) to get the color back to the deep red / darker mahogany. After that I have 7 layers of varnish on.. But before it goes into the sea next year (AH THAT IS SOON!) it will have 14 layers, it will hopefully be like a mirror then.

I have also redone the aft deck because the upholding structure of the wooden deck was rotten so that was changed.

I also collected three old Swedish engines, ALBIN O41 and one ALBIN O411. It is 4-cylinder sidevalve engines with about 24hp. Not a racer.. haha. But the one I put in last year only gave me three rides because the engine was pretty worn out. The plan is to build one good out of the three I have.

If you have any questions just ask! There are a lot more I have done and will be doing as long as I have it. I did not know anything about the woodworks on boats before i started, but with good advice, some thinking and then som "Just do it" will get you far .

Thanks, yes I do like it too. I will start with the motor and drivetrain and get all of that functioning first, then we will see if I will keep it like that. The most important thing is that I can ride it everyday in the summer if I would like ;). I have no interest yet in just keep it on display. It would be awesome to take my 30s bike down to my 30s boat, haha.

No I am not familiar with Marc. I am born in Oslo but my family comes from a place further north in Norway, its called Bjorli, located in the northern part of the valley "Gudbrandsdalen". It would be cool to get in touch with him because there are not a lot of "French bikes in Scandinavia. I live in Stockholm, by the way .
